“People think dreams aren't real just because they aren't made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.”

“The terms we use for what is considered supernatural are woefully inadequate. Beyond such terms as ghost, specter, poltergeist, angel, devil, or spirit, might there not be something more our purposeful blindness has prevented us from understanding?
We accept the fact that there may be other worlds out in space, but might there not be other worlds here? Other worlds, in other dimensions, coexistent with this? If there are other worlds parallel to ours, are all the doors closed? Or does one, here or there, stand ajar?”
― Louis L'Amour, The Haunted Mesa

Happy Birthday Aldous Huxley -

“We were keeping our eye on 1984. When the year came and the prophecy didn't, thoughtful Americans sang softly in praise of themselves. The roots of liberal democracy had held. Wherever else the terror had happened, we, at least, had not been visited by Orwellian nightmares.

But we had forgotten that alongside Orwell's dark vision, there was another - slightly older, slightly less well known, equally chilling: Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Contrary to common belief even among the educated, Huxley and Orwell did not prophesy the same thing. Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley's vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think.

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we desire will ruin us.

This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right.”

This thing was due for an update.... so here it is as of Dec 2013

I've been an artist since I was old enough to pick up a pencil... I create art on a daily basis, from drawing in various mediums, to painting, photography, digital, sculpture, makeup, assemblage and just about any kind of art I can get my hands on.

I never went to college, didn't graduate high-school and left home at the age of 16... I have understudied some interesting artists, from a medical illustrator, to an art restorer, but I pretty much taught myself most of what I know...

Typically my art is created with the intent to provoke a response in the observer... My style is heavily influenced by surrealists like Dali, comic book artists like Frank Miller, adult artists like Patric Nagel, and propaganda artists from all over the world.... I could go on and on about my influences....

My art often deals with social or political messages...

I have shown/ sold my art in galleries and have been published several times...

Professionally I work multiple jobs, one for a major financial institution and the other is in construction where I get to work my art into building things of lasting beauty, and my art...

I am 40, married with 3 children.

I sleep about 5 hours a day or less. I think I will get enough sleep when I am dead...

I like all kinds of music and it influences my art... My favorite song is Aenima by Tool

I love books, especially classic fiction... and have read hundreds of them... They inspire me too... My favorite book is 1984 by Orwell, or Machiavelli's the Prince, or maybe Twain's Huck Fin... hell, I have a lot of favorites...

I grew up poor on a farm in nowhere Georgia, but have been in the Atlanta area for the better part of the last 2 decades.

I box, I skateboard, I hike, I canoe, I fish, and I'm a pretty good archer...

I like role playing games, video games, Sci-fi movies, and cartoons...

I love comic books...

I am pretty much a Atheist and an Anarchist... not exactly, but for those of you who need labels... I'm ok with those...

I am outspoken, and I dont tolerate any kind of discrimination...

I am a highly self motivated, active person with an active imagination...

Inspiration is never a problem for me... I have more ideas for art in a day than I could ever get down on paper in a "finished" version..,

I love to collaborate with other artists, and though I will take commissions, they have to be just right... and I still probably wont like them unless there is very little input from the person who wants the commission.

My repeat offending subjects will always be, skulls, eyes, flowers, clouds and the human form...

“Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there.

It doesn't matter what you do, he said, so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that's like you after you take your hands away. The difference between the man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching, he said. The lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all; the gardener will be there a lifetime.”
Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
