Tango by OdditiesByErnie

"Tango" - Ink on Card Stock - 8.5" X 11"

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

“Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.”
― Voltaire

“Sleep my little baby-oh
Sleep until you waken
When you wake you'll see the world
If I'm not mistaken...

Kiss a lover
Dance a measure,
Find your name
And buried treasure...

Face your life
Its pain,
Its pleasure,
Leave no path untaken.”
― Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book

Hand by OdditiesByErnie
"Hand" - Ink on Card Stock - 8.5" X 11"

I saw this on a video on FB for kids, and thought I would try it... it was fun:)

“Behold the hands, how they promise, conjure, appeal, menace, pray, supplicate, refuse, beckon, interrogate, admire, confess, cringe, instruct, command, mock and what not besides, with a variation and multiplication of variation which makes the tongue envious.”
― Michel de Montaigne
Rain by OdditiesByErnie
"Rain" - Ink on card stock - 8.5" X 11"

“There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you will still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.”
― Yamamoto Tsunetomo, The Hagakure

Tolerance -

tol·er·ate - verb -

Allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.

Accept or endure (someone or something unpleasant or disliked) with forbearance.

I hate it when people use this term in conjunction with people... fuck your tolerance... No one needs your sanction to exist as they chose, or to be what they are.... you can take your tolerance and shove it up your ass... Either accept other people or dont...

This thing was due for an update.... so here it is as of Dec 2013

I've been an artist since I was old enough to pick up a pencil... I create art on a daily basis, from drawing in various mediums, to painting, photography, digital, sculpture, makeup, assemblage and just about any kind of art I can get my hands on.

I never went to college, didn't graduate high-school and left home at the age of 16... I have understudied some interesting artists, from a medical illustrator, to an art restorer, but I pretty much taught myself most of what I know...

Typically my art is created with the intent to provoke a response in the observer... My style is heavily influenced by surrealists like Dali, comic book artists like Frank Miller, adult artists like Patric Nagel, and propaganda artists from all over the world.... I could go on and on about my influences....

My art often deals with social or political messages...

I have shown/ sold my art in galleries and have been published several times...

Professionally I work multiple jobs, one for a major financial institution and the other is in construction where I get to work my art into building things of lasting beauty, and my art...

I am 40, married with 3 children.

I sleep about 5 hours a day or less. I think I will get enough sleep when I am dead...

I like all kinds of music and it influences my art... My favorite song is Aenima by Tool

I love books, especially classic fiction... and have read hundreds of them... They inspire me too... My favorite book is 1984 by Orwell, or Machiavelli's the Prince, or maybe Twain's Huck Fin... hell, I have a lot of favorites...

I grew up poor on a farm in nowhere Georgia, but have been in the Atlanta area for the better part of the last 2 decades.

I box, I skateboard, I hike, I canoe, I fish, and I'm a pretty good archer...

I like role playing games, video games, Sci-fi movies, and cartoons...

I love comic books...

I am pretty much a Atheist and an Anarchist... not exactly, but for those of you who need labels... I'm ok with those...

I am outspoken, and I dont tolerate any kind of discrimination...

I am a highly self motivated, active person with an active imagination...

Inspiration is never a problem for me... I have more ideas for art in a day than I could ever get down on paper in a "finished" version..,

I love to collaborate with other artists, and though I will take commissions, they have to be just right... and I still probably wont like them unless there is very little input from the person who wants the commission.

My repeat offending subjects will always be, skulls, eyes, flowers, clouds and the human form...………
I think there are moments in every Artists life where inspiration strikes and takes over and you as the artist, your body, your hands, eyes, they are just a slave to that inspiration, driven by your creativity, and you are not really thinking about what you are doing in a concise or clear way... just giving over to the moment.... or at least that's how it is for me at times....

Sometimes those moments result in something grand, or something that lets you grow as an artist... other times its a dud...

Tonight I had such a moment...

I have been working with ink splatters and inspiration struck... I was totally into the moment... and when I got done I was pleased... until I looked around and saw that I had forgotten to clear away my other WIP's .... now I have some very unintentional ink splatters on several other pieces...

I ruined at least 4 WIP's while creating one...

Lesson learned hopefully....
